Hand Pipes

A hand pipe is a small pipe with a bowl at one end and a mouthpiece at the other, sized to be held in one hand. The spoon shape is the classic version. You pack the bowl, light it and draw, usually with a thumb over a small carb hole to control airflow.

Borosilicate is a glass formulation that expands very little when heated, so it handles the heat cycling of a bowl without the stress that would crack ordinary glass. It is also noticeably tougher day to day. Every Exxus hand pipe is made from it, front to back.

It is a small hole you cover with your thumb while you draw. Keeping it covered pulls air through the bowl. Lifting your thumb near the end of the draw lets fresh air rush in and clears the pipe, which gives you a cleaner finish instead of a stale last mouthful.

The shapes and the details. One is a classic spoon with a straight air pathway and a thumb operated carb. One pairs a classic bowl with a wide mouthpiece for easier draws. The third adds a ridged neck for grip and carries the largest bowl of the three. All are 100 percent borosilicate and all include a case.

Yes. Each pipe ships with a form fitted foam carrying case cut to its own shape. That is what makes carrying one practical, since a loose pipe in a bag is a pipe waiting to break.

Empty the bowl, then soak the pipe in isopropyl alcohol. Coarse salt added to the alcohol acts as a scrub inside the airway when you shake it. Work stubborn spots with a pipe cleaner or swab, rinse thoroughly with warm water and let it dry completely before the next use.

Sooner than most people do. Residue builds in the airway and restricts the draw long before it looks bad, and it dulls the taste well before that. A quick soak every week or so keeps the airflow open and the flavor clean.

They do different jobs. A hand pipe is instant, needs no charging and costs less. A dry herb vaporizer heats your material instead of burning it, which usually gives you more flavor and stretches the material further. Many people carry a pipe and keep a vaporizer at home.

Glass is glass, so yes, if it is dropped on a hard surface. Borosilicate is considerably more resilient than standard glass and the included foam case handles the main risk, which is knocking around loose in a bag. Treating the case as part of the pipe is the single best thing you can do for it.
